Works in Vietnam, Not as good compared to iPhone eSim tethering.
I got this as a backup. I loaded it with 15gb plan which was fairly priced. I bought the plan in US and it turned on when I arrived in Hanoi. Speed is not that great. I am getting 13 Mbps and the carrier is Mobifone. It is useable, I can connect to my servers, read reddit, watch youtube videos.I also got an eSim for my unlocked iPhone 14 Max Pro. The esim rate through another company, Airalo, was a lot cheaper. I can use hotspot thethering on my iPhone 14 and that plan does data roaming between Mobifone and Viettel via Singtel. This gives me Almost 3x the speed at 45 Mbps.So I am not dissing this product. It works as intended, I will probably continue to use it. I am typing up this review from Hanoi via it right now. So this is great a laptop but if you have an eSim phone w/ tethering, that might be your best bet. This does take about a minute to boot up but so far, it works without issue. It just doesn't have the option of data switching carriers. However, a good thing about it is that it has a physical sim so I might just do that locally when my 15Gb plan burns out. So if you want peace of mind, this will provide it. It works and hassle free to set up. Anyone in my group can use it and the option of physical sims means you are not tied to just using their plan.Edit: August 2. So I am back from my vacation. My Asia data plan went out. It performed better than I originally wrote. Back in the States, I popped in a Boost Mobile LTE sim and it works with a GSMA sim no problem. Getting 100+ Mbps as a working hotspot in the US on AT&T networks.

Long-term customer of GlocalMe, horrible experience
I bought this device as an upgrade to my current one, before a trip. I've been a GlocalMe customer for many, many years and this is the third hotspot device I've bought from them (have upgraded over the years as new models have become available). I used to be a huge fan of GlocalMe, until I bought this. Got the device, it's about the size of a cell phone (a bit thicker than I wanted, but GlocalMe has gone a long way with getting these hotspots to a smaller size!) I had 1.1GB on my device, which I verified. Connectivity was not an issue. As I was going to be gone for 3.5 weeks, I purchased a package for additional data (3GB, which should have been plenty enough - I travel a lot and wouldn't go over 3 GB per month. I really only use the data sparingly, and I'm careful to have my devices set up to not automatically update or use up data unless I'm actively trying to when I travel. Also I try to stick to free wifi when I can access it). The money was deducted from my bank account, and my device noted that I had purchased the 3GB, but the 3GB was not reflected in my data available. It kept deducting data from the 1.1GB every time I logged in. I didn't think much of it, as I've never had a bad experience with GlocalMe in the past and I figured that maybe when I run out of the 1.1GB, it would then show the 3 GB and start deducting from that.Use after use, I kept seeing the data go down from the 1.1GB. On day 3 of my trip I was in a situation when I needed more data than usual, so I used up a bunch of the 1.1GB (watched it go down, but was not worried as I had 3GB left for the rest of my trip... or so I thought). When eventually my data got down to 0, the 3GB never loaded up and I was left in a real bind with no internet access. That night, when I got to my hotel and had wifi access, I contacted GlocalMe customer service. The CS agent I talked to kept arguing with me that I used all of the data. I've used GlocalMe for many years and I'm very well traveled, and I generally don't use more than 3 GB in a month when I travel - there is positively no way I used 4.1 GB in 3 days. I told her repeatedly that I monitored closely the data I had left after I bought the 3GB and I never saw it added to my balance. Talking to the CS agent was painful as I didn't feel like she was listening to what I was telling her. She directed me to a place that showed I had bought the 3GB, but I already knew that. Then she she kept saying that my balance shows 0 therefore I must have used the data. The she asked for screen shots of the data usage - which I did not have. She then told me I should check my remaining data every time I use the device - which I did, and which never showed the data I had bought. She mentioned maybe my phone apps were updating in the background. I told her I always make sure to set up my phone so that does not happen when I travel. By then it was 3:15 am and I was exhausted. With no resolution in sight, I let the agent know I needed to get some sleep but really need my data as I am in the middle of travels. She assured me she would be talking to Tech, understood that I was going to bed but will leave messages for me. She then messaged me the MAC addresses of the devices I had connected to my hotspot and asked me to check. I was sleeping by then. She then asserted that since I had more than one device, then surely I had used all the data. I don't see how that's a conclusion she can make, I travel with the same amount of devices every time, and I have never used 4.1 GB of data in 3 days. I don't even use this much with my cell when I travel within the US and don't rely on free wifi! 30 minutes later, she wrote "since we are not getting any responses from you, we'll close the chat". I had told her I was going to bed and did not want this to happen!! I got the messages the next morning, had to vacate the hotel room and could not start from scratch with a new CS agent, especially as I lost wifi when I left the hotel. This created a lot of trouble during my trip. I was reluctant to put more money into my hotspot in case it would not get credited again. I ended up not using the hotspot anymore and having to find alternative ways to connect. I've loved GlocalMe for many years but this was a bad experience. I paid for data I never got, CS was not helpful, and I was left in a bind in the midst of my travels. I think I need to take my business elsewhere at this point.

The device works great!
So I am in the military and I travel a lot. I been to Djibouti and now Somalia. I bought this GlobalMe device before I came to this deployment. I bought the whole package as you can see in the picture. The device works great in Djibouti and Somalia. I buy the sim chip for each country; it works great. I am connected to 3 devices and I have no problem using them in the same time. Battery life could be better but it's not horrible. I haven't use GlobalMe internet service or any EEUU internet service to my device. If you use local internet service with you device it works great.

G4 Pro does not have a screen lock; insecure for travel
I was looking to upgrade from the Glocalme G3 to the G4 Pro. Everything looked really good and it quickly connected to my phone and tablet. However, the one glaring and fatal flaw is that there is no way to lock the opening screen with a PIN or passcode. All you have to do is swipe and you get to the main page that shows the hotspot SSID and the password which gives anyone who has your device access to your data packages. The Glocalme G3 has a PIN lock for the opening page. When I am traveling I use the passcode or PIN for all my electronic devices because that will give me a bit more time to realize that my device is lost or stolen and to lock out (unlink the device) and stop a thief from using my data. You do not always know right away that your device is missing or stolen so having a screen PIN or passcode on any electronic device should be used on any device you take out of your house. I have also let others who are traveling with me use my hotspot independent of my presence, and the only way they could unlink the device from my data would be if they also had my cell phone. Including an optional way to lock the screen is such a simple but necessary element for any electronic device. I will return the G4 Pro and go back to using my slower, but screen lockable G3 which appears to be a more secure device for traveling.

Worked great in Greece
Bought the G4 Pro for a recent trip to Greece. Purchased an Vodafone unlimited data sim at the Athens airport for around 60 euro (a little pricey but cheaper than my domestic plans data would have been, and the airport vendor was very helpful). Wasn't much set up required. The vendor activated the sim and inserted it in the slot, and after selecting the physical sim it took about 30 seconds for the G4 to connect. There were six people in our group and we all tethered the data during our ten day stay. We were in a more rural area but within site of a 4G tower. The battery usually lasted around 8 hours, but that depended on usage. No problem streaming videos, posting to social media, checking email, etc. The only limitation is the range, you have to be within 10 or so feet of the device. It will also drop your device from the connection if its not actively being used, no big deal just reselect in Wifi settings. It is dependent on proximity to cellular towers and network coverage, but that goes without saying. Overall very satisfied with the device, it does exactly what it says, and performed as advertised.
