I've used these twice and they are incredible. Very strong mechanism and you can wind up the spring with a simple ratchet. I used it in a stronger than OEM spring which had two additional coils per length and it managed to do it easily. A little gear oil on the threads and this will last. High recommend this product over those silly cheap tools. I wil the Autoparts places would rent these out, as they re superior in quality, and I wouldn't need to purchase. I did so, because of the other reviews and this is a safer device to use.

I used the item several times without the yellow covers and it worked great. The covers just got in the way.

This tool is very heavy. I used it to assemble OME coilovers for an FJ Cruiser and I did both coilovers in about 30 mins, working slow.The tool feels very sturdy and comes in a decent case. It takes up more space than I expected so if space is a premium in your garage and you are only ever planning to do this once maybe pass on this. But if you are potentially going to do a handful of coilovers it's probably worth it.I used an impact on it and it worked very well, didn't feel like it was going to give way or anything (but perhaps if it were going to break it would do so suddenly without warning - I'm not sure). Made assembling the coilovers very quick and easy. I'm glad I have this tool and I'll use it again in the future if I do another suspension job. Get as many coils between the U-mounts on the tool and it compresses easily.

This tool is just fantastic!I replaced the rear shocks of a 2012 Can Am Commander and it was safe and easy to use.
